The Evolution of God with Elianne El Amyouni
After her TikTok ban, Twitchy Witch talks monodaddy, fear, and messy magic
After her TikTok ban for talking about Palestine, Elianne El Amyouni aka Twitchy Witch is back on the podcast (and back on TikTok — the app reinstated her after much protest from her friends and followers).
In our conversation, Elianne shares from her life growing up in a household with maps of Palestine on the wall, courtesy of parents who taught her to question everything -- especially narratives handed down from people in power.
A PhD candidate in the Palestinian political identity with a Masters in Jungian Dream Analysis and Occult Symbology, Elianne knows her materials. She’s read the texts dedicated to Yaweh back and front, and calls Netanyahu’s Torah references “messy magic.”
“Remember how God didn't keep his promise? Don't you think this is a bad idea? Based on the story which you're using as some kind of manifestation guide, this is going to end really badly. The story ends really badly for the Israelites. The more they tried, the worst it [got].”
Explaining how a singular “monodaddy” God emerged and evolved through Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, Elianne tells us how this god’s dominance left a pantheon of gods in his wake, including females gods like Asherah, whom he cursed at every opportunity.
We also discuss tarot, bias, gaslighting, feeling shame for not doing more politically, free will, the co-opting of names and symbols, and the power of storytelling in swaying our beliefs.
Elianne submitted her PhD dissertation on the Palestinian political identity on October 6th. You can join her community on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Discord, and Patreon.
