To me the evolution of consciousness is about how we continue to collectively move away from primitive paradigms by acknowledging what our progress and technology has afforded us. For example, reimagining the concepts and values of pain and pleasure in a world where suffering for survival can be optional. I do however have to remember that different parts of the world are going to evolve at different “rates” due to sometimes vast cultural and historical differences, so is it possible to speak about the evolution of consciousness of homo sapien as a single entity?

Wow, what beautiful reflections. That completely resonates. Mm, pain - pleasure value (hello, 6 of Cups!) in a world where suffering for survival has become optional.

As for your question, I don't know... Or perhaps: yes, no, and maybe. Yes, we *can* single it out for our own specific purposes, to encourage the so-called "low hanging fruit" i.e. those who are close to us in POV and just need a little push. No, we can't ultimately separate ourselves as a single entity and unique category without falling into problems such as the different rates of awareness, as you describe. Maybe, well, I think, as usual, the answer is ephemeral and we're just talking out loud to make ourselves feel better? Who knows. Dealer's choice ;)

These 2 pieces really hit me. Inclusion and symbiosis versus separate and above the world!

As a poet, parent and a political scientist, and recently a change management consultant, I find these two pieces really challenge. The idea of what place we stand on. Are we separate from the world moving levers to improve it, or are we necessarily symbiotic with it, with just the illusion and arrogance of power and change.

And the whole point of change management is to be intentional about meaningful change. Which makes me think this is all just a false binary: We are a part of the world, but we have to exercise our agency to improve it.

Yes! You synthesized this so well. Are we necessarily symbiotic, with just the illusion and arrogance of power and change? You know, I do think we change the world all the time ~ but I wonder if the direction we want to change it in requires surrender and the dissolution of the belief that we are separate. It's this beautiful paradox that we must embody. Maybe it's not about "evolving" our consciousness, but simply bringing awareness to it!

I think, yes, to surrender, and wowwww...hmmm, bringing awareness...I think so!
